# Agent Instructions — Mimeo Photos Mimeo Photos (https://mimeophotos.com) sells **personalized photo products**: photo books, calendars, cards, prints, and wall and tabletop decor. Every item is printed from a design the customer makes with their own photos. You can help your user discover products, compare options, and get started. **The customer personalizes and orders in a Mimeo Photos editor.** This guide explains how to hand them off correctly. ## The most important rule: a variant is not a printable item A product variant (size, cover, paper, page count, and so on) only describes the format. **It has no photos, layout, or text, so we cannot print it.** A printable order line is created only when the customer finishes a project in a Mimeo Photos editor and the editor adds it to the cart. That line carries the project data our production system needs. Therefore: - **Do not create a cart or checkout from a bare product variant.** Don't do it through UCP/MCP cart or checkout tools, Storefront WebMCP tools, `/cart/add` links, cart permalinks, or scripted page controls. A bare variant does not include a design, so it won't produce the product the customer expects. - **Do not try to supply project data yourself.** Project data comes only from a Mimeo editor session. - **Do not claim an order is ready** until the customer has completed their design in the editor and reviewed it. ## What you can do - Search the catalog and describe products, options, sizes, and prices with the catalog tools listed below. - Recommend products that match what your user wants to make, such as a gift, a yearly calendar, or a wedding album. - Send your user to the right product page so they can start their project (see [Product and editor entry links](#product-and-editor-entry-links)). - Answer questions about shipping and store policies from the public pages linked below. ## How a customer creates and orders 1. Open the product page from the list below. For example, https://mimeophotos.com/products/hardcover-photo-book. 2. Choose options such as size or cover on the product page. 3. Click **Create**. This opens the Mimeo Photos editor for that product. - Customers must be signed in to their Mimeo Photos account. If they aren't, they're asked to sign in or create an account first, then return to the product. - Calendars also ask for a start month and year, and wall calendars ask for a week start day and a holiday set. 4. In the editor, the customer uploads photos, designs pages, and approves the design. Then the editor adds the finished project to the cart. 5. The customer reviews the cart and checks out on https://mimeophotos.com. Customers who already started a project can continue it from **My Projects**: https://mimeophotos.com/pages/my-projects (sign-in required). Customers can also use the Mimeo Photos apps for Mac and iPhone/iPad: https://mimeophotos.com/pages/photo-apps. ## When to hand off to the customer Stop and ask your user to continue in their own browser when any of these is needed: - **Signing in** or creating a Mimeo Photos account. - **Uploading photos** or choosing which photos to use. - **Design choices** such as layout, theme, text, cover, or page order. - **Reviewing and approving** the design, the cart, or the order. - **Payment** and placing the order. Send the product page link and a short summary of what you recommended, such as the product and suggested options. Don't fill in editor, sign-in, or checkout forms for them. ## Product and editor entry links Each link opens the product page. Use it to **discover products**, not to buy personalized items. - **UCP profile:** `GET https://mimeophotos.com/.well-known/ucp`. It lists the store's capabilities and service endpoints. - **MCP endpoint:** `https://mimeophotos.com/api/ucp/mcp`. Use `tools/list` to get the tool schemas. - Use the catalog tools (`search_catalog`, `lookup_catalog`, `get_product`) to find products and their options. - The cart and checkout tools only accept variant IDs and quantities. They can't carry a design, so **don't use them for Mimeo Photos products**. Send the customer to the product page instead. - **Supported UCP versions:** 2026-08-25, 2026-04-08, 2026-01-23 - **Sitemap:** https://mimeophotos.com/sitemap.xml - **Prices:** in USD unless your tools return a different buyer currency. **Browser (WebMCP):** If you're working in a browser, you may use the storefront's WebMCP tools to search products and read store information. Don't use them to add bare variants to the cart or to start checkout. Customers start personalized products with the **Create** button on the product page. **Shop skill:** If you use the [Shop skill](https://shop.app/SKILL.md), use it only for discovery and order tracking at Mimeo Photos. The rules above still apply: send the customer to the product page to create their design. Don't build a cart or checkout from a variant. ## Read-only browsing Prefer the structured data from the catalog tools. You may also read public pages: - Product pages: `https://mimeophotos.com/products/{handle}` - Collections: `https://mimeophotos.com/collections/{handle}` - Other public pages and articles: https://mimeophotos.com/sitemap.xml Product, collection, and page URLs may redirect to a regional path such as `/en-us/`. Follow the redirect. ## Interaction guidelines - **Customer authorization:** Only the customer places orders and submits payment, after they review their design and order. - **Agent traffic:** Identify agent-initiated requests as agent traffic. Server-to-server requests and hosted or remote browsers must use [Web Bot Auth](https://shopify.dev/docs/api/storefront#identifying-bots-with-web-bot-auth). - **No workarounds:** Don't script editor, cart, sign-in, or checkout forms, and don't use page controls to get around these rules.
